Pacific Palisades deserves better
When our homes and businesses burned, City officials promised us that they would cut through the red tape, fast-track approvals, and do everything possible to help us rebuild.
That is not what many of us are experiencing.
The Problem
Homeowners, business owners, contractors and architects are spending hours - and sometimes days - trying to get answers.
Emails go unanswered.
Phone calls aren’t returned. Inspections are difficult to schedule and coordinate.
Inspectors sometimes arrive when the homeowner or contractor isn’t even there, and there is often no meaningful opportunity to discuss or resolve an issue.
And one of the biggest obstacles is something no one can rebuild without: POWER.
Many Palisades property owners are struggling with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
We need electrical service to build. We need it to complete construction. And ultimately, we need it before we can return to our homes and businesses.
Why should rebuilding families have to spend days waiting in line just to get help?
Why should emails and phone calls go unanswered?
Why can’t we get timely inspections and speak directly with the people making decisions about our properties?
Why, after everything this community has been through, are we fighting the very agencies that promised to help us rebuild?
This isn’t what we were promised.
I’ve been involved in construction for more than 40 years, and I have never experienced anything like this.
The system isn’t making rebuilding easier. It is making an already extraordinarily difficult situation even harder.
One homeowner complaining can be ignored.
One contractor can be told to wait.
One email can go unanswered.
But an entire community speaking together is much harder to ignore.
We’ve waited long enough
That’s why we’re organizing.
This website is a place for Palisades residents, property owners, business owners, builders, architects and others involved in the rebuilding effort to come together.
We want to identify the problems holding up our rebuild, share our experiences, propose practical solutions, and demand accountability from LADWP and City officials.
This isn’t about complaining for the sake of complaining. It’s about getting results.
We want clear procedures. We want reasonable response times. We want inspections that can actually be coordinated. We want calls and emails returned. We want access to decision-makers who can solve problems. And we want the City to honor its promise to help the Palisades rebuild quickly.
